  • The June issue of the Ties magazine in now available. Go to http://www.tiesmagazine.org to read it.

  • I have had to disable the admin@prodesktop.net email address as there was just too much spam (the last straw was 2 days with 500+ emails in german. If you need to contact the webmaster then leave a message in the forum.

  • There will not be a release of Pro/DESKTOP to coincide with Wildfire 2. The whole of PTC R&D have been focused on developing a high quality Pro/ENGINEER release and all other projects have been assigned a lower priority.
    Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 2 will be able to open up PRO/DESKTOP 8.0 files but Pro/DESKTOP 8.0 will be unable to open Wildfire 2 files due to Wildfire 2's later version of Granite.
    Future versions of Pro/DESKTOP are planned and will use the up to date versions of Granite.

  • Pro/DESKTOP 8.0 Service Pack 1 has now been officially released. Version 1061 Go here to download it.

  • John Jacobs has kindly updated the Lego models for the assembly tutorial to Version 8 compatibility Tutorials (2nd Aug 2003)

  • PTC has made the "localisation" files available from this site that will allow anyone in the world to localize the software and online help in their favorite language. the files have been added to the Add-in Page(17nd July 2003)

  • I have had a major upload to the gallery I think that I have added all the files that I have received this year including Morgans Kilde's I/C engine. If your files are not here it is either that I couldn't get reasonable pictures or I didn't receive them.(5th July 2003)

  • Want to check if your graphics card is capable of using the hardware acceleration? Look in the "Articles" section to find more details and a small executable to test your own computer.(2nd July 2003)

  • After a few days of downtime, the website is back. (1st May 2003)

  • New Images from Hungary submitted by Mike Brown have been added to the gallery (10th January 2003)

  • The Trouble shooting, the FAQ, and the Prodesktop Tips web pages that were available on the PTC web site have been converted to PDFs and are once more available from the links page (3nd January 2003)

  • The update of the ProDesktop.net website is now complete. The site should be faster to load. Please let me know of any problems you find (and any suggestions on how to solve them) Just Email the Webmaster. (2nd January 2003)

  • The PTC developers have made available the API Documentation - using the API of Pro/DESKTOP. Also, how to write Add-Ins.
    API Miscellaneous - bunch of examples on how to use the Pro/DESKTOP API. Mostly unsupported stuff. Contains a Visual C++ Add-in to automatically generate a C++ Add-In for Pro/DESKTOP.
    Most of the stuff is really for developers familiar with either Visual Basic or C++. Its all provided on the CD.

  • Ask the PLM(Product Line Manager) answers to some of the questions on the differences between Express and full Pro/DESKTOP, PTC's intentions on future developement etc. (5th September).

  • I have found a really useful web site for mechanical information - A great design resource Mechanical Engineers reference
    (3rd September).

  • A wide range of pneumatic cylinders are available in CAD form at http://www.bimba.com They have PTC Partslink running and anyone can get full .prt files of their models. All these can then be read into Pro/DESKTOP and Pro/DESKTOP Express. Thanks to Rajiv for the info on this. (2nd August).

  • New Demo Tools Add-In! (19 May).

  • Rack tutorial files converted to Pro/D 2001 (granite)
